Mobile Car Washing and Doing Business With Hertz Rent-A-Car

By Lance Winslow If you own a mobile car washing or mobile auto detailing business then may I suggest to you finding new clientele in the car rental agency business? Why do I recommend this? Well personally having been in the fleet car and truck washing business for almost 3 decades it has served me well cleaning for rental car agencies. Many small auto detailers and mobile car wash operators have not tapped into this niche because they do not really understand it. To get started I recommend looking thru the phone book and seeing which car rental agencies exist in your area of service or city. You will also need to get a quick education in how car rental agencies work and the history behind the industry. Lets take Hertz Rent-a-Car for instance and talk about doing business with Hertz Rent-A-Car. You see, Hertz is the oldest car rental company in the world and each car rental corporation has a unique history which you should study before going in to make the sales call. Believe it or not it was started in 1918 by a guy named Walter Jacobs who had 12 Model Ts. He was only 22 at the time. He sold his business to John Hertz also President of Yellow Cab and Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing. In 1967 Hertz became a subsidiary of RCA Corp. Hertz later was sold to UAL and then was sold to Ford Motor Companys newly formed Park Ridge Corp. Volvo joined in with funds later in 1988. Hertz was transferred to Ford Motor Company from its subsidiary Park Ridge in 1993. Hertz has also made friends with AAA Club, is recommended by them and gives cardholders up to 15% off. American Express Car Holders also get the same satisfaction. If you are a small business, your Chamber of Commerce also has incentives. Hertz has come along way since 1918. Today Hertz is a powerhouse with 377 Hertz Equipment Rental Offices (largest in the world), represented in 140 countries with 7000 worldwide rental car offices, 4600 rental offices in the US and Canada, 300 used car sales locations and 488 truck rental locations. Hertz has been able to put their locations in high-end car repair facilities prototypes such as AAA Car Care Center in Sacramento CA and JoeAutos prototype facility in West Houston TX. They have put locations in BART train stations in San Francisco and in many large car dealerships that sell Ford Products. They have pick up and delivery service in over 600 locations in answer to Enterprise Rent-A-Cars market share advances. Hertz has opened what they call Superette car sales offices in many large cities to handle all of their sales in metro areas. Instead of Enterprises or Budgets strategy of smaller 60-100 car facilities spread around the town. I have been to a Superette Facility in Houston. Hertz Car Sales offices boast of being able to offer hassle free car sales, complete online records of maintenance, huge inventories (the Superette we toured had over 350 cars), factory warranties from manufacturers on most cars, limited 12,000 mile/1 year warranty on all others, competitive financing through FMC. They are serious about selling their cars for a high price and delivering high levels of service, so a mobile car wash company makes a great fit on their organization. Hertz has an excellent fleet program for companies who wish to buy one year old Ford cars or trucks for their business all backed with Ford Motor Credit Loans or Smart leases by Ford. This program also has a claims service to go with it and a small business insurance package with low rates. You as a mobile car wash company might be interested in this as a way to expand your fleet if you like using Ford products. This program may change in the future if Ford divests itself from such non-core business models. Their truck rental business is similar to Penske, Ryder, U-Haul and Budgets truck rental services with packaging materials available or just a truck to use for a day for business purposes or deliveries. We have seen Hertz, Enterprise, Penske and Ryder Trucks at Fed Ex offices during Christmas Holidays to help service demand. And we have even washed them, since Fed Ex refuses to show up in a dirty vehicle to deliver packages. Fed Ex and other small package delivery services are a target for such truck rental companies, since they often rent the trucks for as long as a month at a time. For locations of Hertz Equipment go to their web site at: http://www.hertzequip.com For locations of Hertz Truck Rentals: https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/byr/index.jsp? targetPage=browseLocationView.jsp&leftNavUserSelection=globNav_3_1 For Hertz Rental Offices and Car Sales Locations to market to go to: https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/index.jsp? targetPage=reservationOnHomepage.jsp The wonderful thing about working with Hertz is you can detail their used cars for sale, wash the sales lots, clean their rental cars, wash their heavy equipment, clean the concrete at their shops or wash the trucks they rent to customers. So when expanding your clientele and commercial accounts, I recommend rental agencies and of course Hertz is as good a place to start as any. So perhaps you will consider all this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Tips for Fishing an Unfamiliar Lake

By Chris Curley When approaching a new lake, its always a good idea to have a plan. Maps and lake reports are handy, but they arent always accurate and may not be the only thing you need. Sometimes you need that keen eye of an experienced angler to see the opportunities. Or just learn what that keen-eyed angler is looking for and duplicate. Sometimes you may get lucky and find someone on the docks willing to give up some secrets. Older anglers are usually more than happy to pass on some of their tips, favorite tricks and spots. I always use a system of gathered information. Here are a few tips to help your overall success on a new lake. As I have said before, keep it simple. The most basic fishing techniques work the same on most all lakes. They have done so in the past for a reason. If it works on one lake, chances are it will on others. Structure! Structure! Structure! Look for docks, standing timer, weeds and lily pads. Anything that creates shelter and camouflage for the fish is a good spot. Bass, especially largemouth are ambush hunters. Confidence can be a great fishing tool to have in your tackle box also. If you go out to the lake with the mindset that youre not going to catch a fish, your chances of catching a fish are going diminish greatly. Throw that lure like youre a pro on the biggest tour of your life and before you know it, your catching fish like a pro. The shallows near a drop off or channel are always a good place to catch fish. The Bass species, which include the Sunfish and Bluegill, like to have that abrupt transition. If youre trying to catch a specific species find out what kind of habitat they require and look for it on the lake. The time of year has a lot to do with how the fish will bite. Two things make a major impact on what the fish are doing and how they will react: cold water and warm water. Cold water; slow your roll, Warm water; speed it up a bit. Dont just throw your favorite lure because you like how fish strike it, or it happens to be your favorite color. Check the condition of the water. Is it clear or muddy? Is it cold or warm? Is the level rising or falling? Believe me, water conditions matter. As always, the local tackle shop is a great place for information. However, sometimes its hard to get good advice right before a big tournament. The person running the shop may fall into a rut and answer everybody the same, Well so-and-so creek can be good this time of the year. or The fish have really been biting on this (Insert product here), which is on sale today. Knowing when to ask the local tackle shop also comes with experience. Water clarity is something else that will be a factor in going to a new lake. If you cannot see what is under the surface, its pretty hard to determine what to throw. If the water is muddy, throw out a nice dark color (Im not a favorite of black or blue however, other are). Bladed Spinners are always a good way to feel-out the water. Something weed-less or snag-free well works in testing out the waters also. My fishing buddy likes to go to a different lake each time we go fishing, which can be a bit difficult when youre strapped for time or cash. However, experience comes from doing and the more lakes and ponds you can throw your lures into, the better. Well I do hope I have helped someone and just remember, on those rainy or bad days, do some research, cause like the old saying goes, Knowledge is Power. And as always, keep happy thoughts and good fishin to you. Chris Curley lives in Nashville, IN. with his dog Piranah. Flat Feet And Arch Pain

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Abid_Hussain] Abid Hussain Flat Feet Flat feet is a condition in which the foot doesn’t have a normal arch. It may affect one foot or both feet. Most people have a gap between in the inner side of the foot and the ground when they are standing. This is referred to as an “arch”. Feet that have a low arch or no arch at all are referred to as flat feet or fallen arches. On standing the patient will have a flat arch and the foot may roll over to the inner aspect. The symptoms vary depending on the severity of the condition. Individuals may experience corns and hard skin under the sole of the foot. The arch area may be tender and shoes will tend to wear out quickly. In severe cases the patient may experience calf, knee, hip and back pain. CAUSES OF FLAT FEET It may be hereditary, i.e passed on through generations. In most cases it is caused through a biomechanical complaint (abnormal walking) such as Fore Foot Varus. This is a condition in which the subtaler joint in the foot over pronates (rolls in too much). A ruptured tendon (tibilias posterior) can lead to a flat foot. Cerebral palsy, spins bifida and muscular dystrophy can also lead to a flat foot condition. TREATMENT OF FLAT FEET Wear wide fitting shoes. Do not try to treat the secondary lesions (i.e corns) yourself. Purchase high quality insoles/ orthotics to take pressure and pain away from the arch. TRADITIONAL TREAMEMT Flat feet insoles have been used for years to help people with flat feet. Traditionally when we think of insoles or orthotics we think of a hard plastic insert that is placed in the shoe. It cups the heel and supports the arch but because it is not flexible it does not extend the full length of the foot. This tends to make this type of orthotic uncomfortable, and ineffective for many people. It also repositions the arch using “brute force.” Because it is not flexible it forces the arch into it’s correct position but does nothing to relieve the pressure that is forcing the arch to collapse, causing flat feet, in the first place. This type of hard plastic orthotic can actually cause increased pain in flat feet patients, which is the reason why we have recommended the Dr Foot Insoles for the treatment of flat feet. They provide a flexible yet incredibly supportive and stable treatment for flat feet. Organic Baby Food A Big Hit In Scotland

By Rick Hendershot **50% of Scottish Babies fed Organic Baby Food According to the Scotsman, more than half of Scottish children under two are now fed an exclusively organic diet. In fact, organic baby food accounted for 43% of total baby food sales in 2004. That represented sales of more than 63 million GBP in 2004. A survey of 805 mothers and pregnant women conducted by the polling company BMRB found that four out of five mothers chose organic food for weaning their young children off of milk (between 6 months and 1 year old). The reasons given were clearly related to additives and chemical spraying. Mothers in the survey cited “less risk of chemical pesticides” (87%), “no additives” (80%), and “no GM” (84%) Intensive marketing campaigns by groups such as the Soil Association Scotland are getting the message across about the negative effects of pesticides. This is clearly having an impact on the buying preferences of parents, and also on changes in school menus. Organic milk also has positive health characteristics. It can contain up to 71 per cent more omega 3 than non-organic milk and most organic milk has a better ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 than conventional milk. Companies such as Hipp are bringing new products to market — such as organic purees for weaning purposes — to take advantage of the demand. But adults are not changing their own eating habits nearly as quickly. Asda, a Scottish supermarket chain owned by WalMart, says organic produce for adults accounts for only about 2% of total sales. **Self-Serve Machines moving in on fast food restaurants People fond of ridiculing low-paying fast food restaurant jobs will be pleased to hear that many of these jobs will soon be a thing of the past. At least if RoberServer has its way. The company has recently unveiled its new fast food self serve machines called the “Line Buster.” According to RoberServer, the Line Buster will allow customers to place their own orders from a 15″ touch screen, and then pay for their order with the onboard credit card processor. Customers then pick up their order at the counter. Industry estimates show that self-serve technologies can cut customer waiting time by as much as 33%. The company is targeting the 115,000 fast food restaurants in the U.S. Similar technology has already been deployed in ATMs and self-checkout grocery stores. Would you like fries with your meal? Would you like fries with your meal? Would you like fries with your meal? **FDA says snack makers must show trans fats The term “trans fats” has become a synonym for “unhealthy”. That’s because these ingredients hide in most mass produced snacks, cookies, and frozen french fries and then help to clog our arteries and contribute to our obesity. As of January 1, 2006, the FDA is requiring the labels on packaged snacks and foods to list the amount of trans fats per serving. Trans fats are an ingredient in nearly 40 percent of packaged foods, and they are suspected of contributing to diabetes, heart disease, strokes and many other unhealthy conditions. Health researchers have found that trans fats raise the levels of unhealthy cholesterol and lower the levels of beneficial blood cholesterol. They say as little as 2 to 3 grams a day — less than is contained in a typical donut — can be detrimental. Trans fats are common in processed foods because food manufacturers can use cheap liquid oils and turn them into solids by hydrogenation. Most experts agree it is better to use products that have been made with polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats such as those found in canola and olive oils. Simply avoiding processed foods and snacks accomplishes the same thing, since whole, unprocessed foods do not have trans fat additives. Meaning and Marketing - The Hurricane

By Paul R Snell I step outside my back door and look at some large limbs lying on the ground. They are all dead. We’ve had the remnants of Hurricane Frances and Ivan come through here the past ten days. We’ve had lots of rain with manageable winds. Even so, the storms have done their work and alot more than I have the time to see or know about at the present moment. The hurricane - one of nature’s ways of culling the trees. I remember visiting the Florida Everglades in the early 1980’s and hearing from a Park Ranger who was our tour guide on a boat. He pointed out the most common trees along the water bank, a tangled mass - millions of them. “Left to their own devices, they can be their own worst enemy,” he said; “so right now we’re praying for a hurricane.” Meaning and Marketing - do you have or own a context of Meaning in which to do your work? Of course, you do. Why do you do your work and what are you after? Are you after “Success”? If so, what is “Success” and how do you define that? You probably already know the answers to all these questions because they are part of your Meaning. Please know this - whatever your Meaning IS, I honor it. No matter what it is or how it is, it’s yours and it comes right out of you. You probably worked hard for it and suffered for it. You and your personality and particular gifts are a match. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have it, you wouldn’t own it. Whatever your Meaning IS, if you are happy with it, hold on to it because IT IS probably irreplaceable, like you are irreplaceable. If it works for you and you like it, are satisfied with it, and it motivates you everyday, then - - hey! - nothing wrong with that and everything right with it. Congratulations! However, if you don’t know your Meaning, are not sure, or are dissatisfied with, restless and hungry with the Meaning you have and that is yours, then please read on. You might be surprised and you might have some fun, some real fun! Or, if you’re just curious and need a hurricane in your life to shake you up a bit, to loosen you up, so that you can grow and expand, and can continue to do what you are already doing so well, only better, then hang on! Because a hurricane is coming, a really big one, a really really BIG ONE. Batten down the hatches, panel your windows with double strength plywood. Bar your doors with steel and hope for the best because YOU ARE going to need it. Meaning has to do with something spiritual or psychic or intuitive. It can often be inexpressible, but you know it’s there. It’s your religion even if you have no religion. Whatever binds you and holds you together into one piece, and that drives you to be who YOU ARE - that is your religion. That is your Meaning. And as you market your product or program to the world, you say - “Better watch out because here I come! And I am powerful! I am dy-no-mite.” If you don’t say this, then you ought to. So Mr. & Mrs. Meaning, how much power do you have behind the Meaning that is You and Yours? A lot? A little bit? How much? Do you know? Of course you know! You have as much power as you WANT or are willing to grab. And you grab as much as you need to get the job done and no more because you have to save yourself for the next task, the next job. You have to pace yourself carefully and conserve your energy because you don’t live for one day, or one week, or one month only in your business. You have to think about the future in your business - the long range future - and plan for it. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, I am handing out helmets now. They are made of a special metal, an alloy of titanium and steel and are covered with 1/3″ layer of rubber and plastic. The helmets are painted and tatooed anyway you WANT them TO BE and they are beautifully waxed. Are you ready? The Helmets are your IMAGINATIONS. Do you have them on? You do have an Imagination, don’t you? If not, just pretend you do. That will work just as well. Are you having fun? Not sure? Why aren’t you sure? Suddenly you find yourself in Patricia Smith’s third grade classroom at Old Richmond School in Felix County, NC. It’s 1953. A pupil is gazing out the window toward Pilot Knob about 20 miles away and S/HE IS wondering if recess time will ever get here. So is the pepple on the window sill. E-Love at Easter - Part Two

By Oma Edoja The next week was a whirl. The first quarter of the year was ending. The girls worked hard to stay on top of their businesses. Just for the fun of it, Kiki now chatted regularly online with Dotun, her new e-friend. To his credit, he was actually a lot of fun! And, by some twist of fate, he lived in Surulere, Lagos! Dotun wanted to meet Kiki in person, but she had refused. Since neither of them had posted or exchanged photographs, Kiki felt safe in near-anonymity. She was certain that taking this any further would ruin things. She couldnt risk that; she quite liked Dotun. Deep inside her, she was afraid of the Easter jinx. She let on this much to Arin and Bolu. But Dave is a Christian, right? asked Bolu. And so are you. God has not given you the spirit of fearYou have power over all the power of the enemyYou are delivered from the powers of darknessCome on girl! Do you read your Bible and forget it?! Why dont you both pray about all this? Arin chipped in. There is no jinx Kiki. Its just a combination of coincidence, and self-fulfilling prophecy. You get what you expect, remember? I just dont want a computerized relationship, Kiki said quietly, One where we L.O.L or R.O.T.F. I want a real, live person. Then meet him in person where you can L.O.L. and R.O.T.F. for real! Arin replied, exasperated. But Kiki was adamant. She would not meet Dotun in person. At least not yet. It was the end of another weekly goal-setting session. As the girls sat sipping their fruit juice Kiki narrated her ordeal with this horrible client of hers. He was always asking her out to his church, for lunch or dinner, to spend the day out! Kiki had stated firmly that business was business, and she did not mix business with pleasure. She could hardly wait to finish his copywriting project and be rid of him forever. He had bought her a huge bunch of flowers on Valentines Day, and, horror of horrors had sent a duet over to her office to serenade her! Had she been mortified! But what exactly dont you like about him? asked Arin. You say hes good-looking, a gentleman, a Christian. And hes financially OK. So whats the problem? Becky queried. Were beginning to think you dont know what you want, said Arin. Actually, began Kiki, Im beginning to think I would like to meet Dotun. Ha! cried Bolu. At last, some progress! shouted Arin. So what are you planning to do about it? Dotun has asked me to meet him for dinner on Friday night, replied Kiki, and I have accepted. If I feel right about it Ill ask him to go with me to the Easter celebrations. It was Friday night before they knew it. Dotun had chosen a posh restaurant in Victoria Island. He had sent a taxi to pick Kiki up. As she stepped into it, looking ravishingly beautiful, she turned to Bolu and Arin, who had seen her to the taxi. Pray for me guys, she said. Arin assured her she would hear them praying, all the way from V.I.! With that, the taxi sped off. In just thirty minutes Kiki stepped out at the entrance to The Princess. It was a beautiful place. Dotun certainly had good taste, she thought. Dotun would be sitting at table fourteen. She was to report to the reception on arrival, and be taken to their table. One quick glance at a wall mirror assured her that she looked just right. She followed the waiter to table fourteen but was greeted by a shocking sight. There seated, looking more dashing than ever, sat her horrible client, Mr D.A.Akande! Hello Kiki, he greeting with characteristic style. What a coincidence! Are you here to dine? Actually, I am meeting some one. At table fourteen. There must be some mix up, she heard herself say squeakily. Sensing her embarrassment, Mr Akande made for the reception. Please have a seat, he said as he left, Let me sort this out. She watched him walk off, secretly admiring his impeccable dress sense. What mind-numbing perfume, she thought! A few minutes later, Mr Akande returned. He sat down gently, taking Kikis hand. The mix up is not from the restaurant, he explained. I am Dotun A. Akande, and you are Kiki. Weve been chatting online for three months now. Kiki fainted! She came to, finding herself in a hospital bed. Where am I? she asked, before her eyes were fully open. You are in safe hands. Dont you worry; Ill take care of you. It was Mr Akande, sitting beside her bed, a look of relief crossing his face. Aha! She is back, boomed another male voice. Kiki turned her head to see a man in hospital whites, obviously a doctor. Just a slight shock, nothing serious. Take it easy, and dont surprise her any more tonight, said the doctor to Mr Akande with a wink. Mr Akande, I am so sorry,Kiki began to explain, but he cut her short. There is nothing to apologise for. You did nothing wrong. And please call me Dotun. They left the hospital and decided on another place to dine, an equally breath taking place on the beach front. Afterwards, as the evening was still young, Dotun and Kiki took their seats on the beach, watching the waves. Kiki apologised again, explaining her fear of the Easter jinx. Dotun assured her there was no jinx. He pleaded with her to give things between them a try. From the first moment I saw you, I wanted to get to know you better. The harder you fought me, the more determined I became. Never say die I guess, hmm? Kikis thoughts were far away at her house. She knew exactly what would happen when she recounted the nights events to her flat mates. They would show her no mercy! So much for all the resistance she had put up against Mr Akande. And some how, he had always reminded her of Dotun! How like fate to play such tricks on her. Or was this the hand of God? L.O.L, she thought! Father in heaven, please have your way. The look in Dotuns eyes suggested he would be around well beyond the Easter season. Was this Gods way of telling her that she was never really jinxed? She imagined Arin and Bolus unending torment. Their words at the cyber caf came back to her. Some day youll be grateful, they had said. Tonight she truly was. They would all be R.O.T.F for a long time to come. Of that she was very sure! Thinking Logically

By Zeeshan Parvez One of the main reasons why depressive patients are unable to rid themselves of their mood disorder is because of their inability to think logically. This inability is a direct result of the fact that depressed patients are over achievers. It is not a result of a lack of capability. Instead, it is a result of a harsh attitude when it comes to judging oneself. Patients of depression need to discover the true cause of their illness and then logically deduce whether the cause is one which is a result of external factors or not. If the cause is a result of external factors, patients must remind themselves that they are not to blame. How can one be blamed of failure for that which resides beyond ones control? Is it logical to accuse a person of failing an exam if he was hospitalized due to a serious illness which prevented him from giving the exam? These are rhetorical questions all of which can be answered with an emphatic no. Unfortunately, the harsh attitude of depressive patients when it comes to judging oneself prevents them from answering the above questions with a firm no and instead they search for evidence which strengthens their belief that they are at fault. Riding oneself of this behavior of blaming oneself is the key to combating depression. Lets take the example of Susan. Susans family went bankrupt after her husband decided to quit his job and apply for a PhD. He claimed that doing so would allow him to find high paying jobs in the future. Susan warned her husband against such an action as it would have dire consequences but her husband did not listen. Susan was an eastern woman and had been taught to do as her husband willed. Hence, she had to agree to his proposition and quit her job as well. Her husband demanded that they both move to Canada where he would apply for a PhD program. When the two arrived in Canada, her husband did as he had planned but was rejected from the PhD program. Now both were without a job and two kids to support. Susan began to suffer depression because of her situation. From a house and two cars, the family had been reduced to living on welfare. Susan could not believe it. With time Susan began to blame herself. She claimed the situation was a result of her not taking a firm stand against her husband. She claimed that she should have refused to accompany him and he might have changed his mind. Susan is now accusing herself for something that is not her fault. She was not the one who pushed her husband into quitting his job and applying for a PhD program. As for her claim that she should have taken a firm stand, she fails to realize that her circumstances had prevented her from doing so. Susan and her husband were both easterners and in eastern society saying no to ones husband is simply unacceptable. The result of which is almost always divorce. Susan, being a medical doctor, was well aware of the fact that divorce would have a negative impact on her childrens mental status a fact proved by research and personal experience and was willing to sacrifice everything to prevent such a situation. Keeping this in mind, Susan was told that it was not her fault and that her claim of standing firm against her husband would not have worked because she was not willing to see her children suffer as a result of divorce. Had she not been concerned about her children, then she could have taken a firm stand and risked divorce. But since she was not willing to risk divorce, taking firm stand would have simply made matters worse. Hence, by helping Susan think logically, symptoms of her mood disorder are alleviated. All depressive patients need similar counseling. Patients need to be reminded of both the external factors which played a pivotal role in their failure and personal limitations which prevented them from seeking an alternative course to avoid failure. In Susans case her love for her children prevented her from standing firm against her husbands desire to enter a PhD program and give up his job. Next, this limitation needs to be explored. If the limitation is one which has ground then the patient needs to be reminded that the decision he or she took was the right one. Otherwise, they need to be counseled to rid themselves of this limitation. Finally, the patient of depression needs to be reminded of the external factors which acted as catalysts in pushing them into their present situation. They need to be told that external factors are beyond human control and that by blaming themselves for that that which is beyond their control, they are being unfair to themselves. Combating depression is the greatest challenge faced by researchers today. Anti-Depressant drugs and ECT have both failed in the face of severe depression. Only proper counseling can provide complete relief from depression. It is Depression Rectified’s goal (http://www.depressr.com/self_treat_depression.php) to provide a free online resource to help patients defeat their mood disorder.
